- Connecticut State Pistol Permit To obtain a state pistol permit, citizens apply at their local police departments or the first selectman's office. SLFU is responsible for processing the 5 year permit after the 60 day permit is obtained. Out of state residents must call 860-685-8494 to obtain an application packet. - Conservation Education - Firearms Safety (CE-FS) Classes Conservation Education/Firearms Safety (CE/FS) courses are administered by the Department of Energy & Environmental Protection's (DEEP) Wildlife Division and are taught throughout the year by a dedicated corps of certified volunteer instructors.
